Today we had a group pitch of our year book proposal to Joe, Lorenzo and the rest of the year book groups, and I think its fair to say it went pretty well. First of all, and most importantly compared to the other groups, we were the only ones who came under budget. Our quote is about £1,700 give or take, everyone elses are £3,00 plus. And thats with our awesome stock too. So even though our number of pages will inevitably increase (40 is pretty small) we're on top of that.
Secondly, pitching back all the details of our deadlines and communication we've had with the course and compared to some others who have had pretty much zero with their courses, ours is running really smoothly, having had what, 3 meetings already? And with them giving us all the content before Easter we're looking for a pretty smooth, pretty quick run in compared to everyone else.
Our discussions with Joe and Lorenzo went well, although Lorenzo wasn't keen on some of the typography decisions. This isn't a massive issue as we are updating the designs week on week until we are happy. They were happy with our ideas but urged us to be on top of the designing and organising the installation for the cover. We also need to make sure we art direct the shoot on the front cover so that there is adequate room to fit the image on the cover and have the space to run the image along the gatefold.
